Does Atlantic City Have Waterparks?

Does Atlantic City have waterparks?  YES!!   Island Waterpark at Showboat is NOW OPEN and it’s impressive!

Isn’t Showboat a Casino?

Showboat Resort was formerly a casino but is currently a family friendly hotel resort with rooms, suites, restaurants, special events and Lucky Snake Arcade, the largest arcade on the east coast. Showboat sits directly on the boardwalk with the beach and ocean within feet of the boardwalk entrance.

Under Construction – NOW OPEN!!

Island Waterpark opened on July 4th, 2023.   There were hopes it would open by Memorial Day but there have been delaysl   Best laid plans . . . right?   This mega indoor/outdoor waterpark has a retractable roof so it can be enjoyed year-round.

The original cost for the project was $100 million and includes:

  • A glass retractable roof for year-round use
  • Glass enclosed space over 550 feet
  • Entire area over 1300 feet deep
  • Pools
  • 11 different water slides
  • 10,300 sf splash pads
  • A lazy river
  • Retail stores
  • Bars/lounges
  • Restaurants
  • Party rooms
  • A zip line
  • An outdoor fun area on the boardwalk end with food, fun and games
  • A 10,000-sf adults only area

History

Showboat originally opened in 1987 and operated as a casino/hotel until 2014 then closed until purchased by developer Bart Blatstein. The property reopened in July, 2016 as a resort hotel with 852 guest rooms and suites but without a casino due to a deed restriction by former owner Caesars Entertainment.

Showboat is located on the north end of Atlantic City at 801 Boardwalk (in between Hard Rock and Ocean Casinos) and can be reached at 609-487-4600. For hotel reservations, call 407-992-7902.

I’m sure we’ll soon be hearing more about this mega project but for now the answer to the question “does Atlantic City have waterparks” is . . . patience – coming soon!.
